discarded frames

My network perf. monitor is showing that one interface on Cisco 6500 (WS-X6816-GBIC) is discarding 500,000 frames every hour.

I know that the network connection between this port and the server is saturated (between 90% -95%) but I was wondering if this is the switch that discards them because its transmit buffer is getting full, or is it the server on the other side that cannot keep up with receiving data.

ifconfig on that server shows 160,000 frames dropped which is quite smaller then 500,000 that performance monitor is showing.
