Webconsole - Login failure - User name and/or password incorrect

After upgrading NPM to version 12.0 some of our users are getting the message "Login failure - user name and/or password incorrect". This is when they are hitting the url of orion/.../Login.aspx. What is strange is that if I have them close the page then try to navigate to their assigned Home Page View they are able to get right into the website. We are using AD groups in Orion and I have confirmed the individuals that get this are part of the group created in Orion. I am unable to replicate the issue on my end. I have only been able to find the Accounts table in the db and for these users it is updating the last login column and groupinfo column with appropriate group. It also does not seem to be browser specific as I had one of the users use IE only and we still get the error.

Has anyone else experienced login issues such as this?

In cases like this, I've had some success deleting the cached account information out of the database. When users try to authenticate after their row in the database is deleted, Active Directory gets queried again and repopulates the database.
Just had to make the database row writable and then nuke the affected row(s).

In this particular case, I recommend opening a telephone-based support ticket with Solarwinds. Although I like fixing problems myself, the nuclear option of deleting information in the SW Database is something I want SW Support to recommend or perform, since there may be a different and less impactful method of restoring functionality for those users.

After working with SolarWinds Support and following the case below we were able to get this resolved. The one key step was adding the AD user groups i had created in Orion to have the "log on locally" permission. I still don't understand why this was necessary but at least it is fixed and our users can get passed the login screen now.
