Hello,
I am currently using NPM to monitor SNMP metrics from our VMware environment. NPM is setup to poll out individual ESX servers and provide information to Orion for alerting etc. We currently have 10 virtual servers in our environment. The virtual center is setup to log events to a database, in this case an MSSQL 2005 express installation. Microsoft currently limits dbs in MSSQLEXP05 to 4 gigabytes which is plenty for my environment... with one exception. NPM appears to attempt to log in to each one of my virtual servers once every 30 seconds. This generates roughly 20 logs every minute. While this may not seem like a lot to anyone here, it seems to be quite a bit from my standpoint as a VMware admin. Is there a way to tune down the frequency of NPM logging into these virtual servers? I like what visibility NPM is providing me however, it doesn't need to provide me this visibility every 30 seconds. Once every 2 minutes or 3 times every 15 would be just as acceptable.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
