Upgrading to 2019.4 in stages?

(This may be a duplicate post, but I can't find my original, posted just a couple of days ago.)

We are upgrading to 2019.4 on Saturday (from 2019.2). I would like to do it in 2 stages. We have the main server and 26 APE's, but I would like to, initially, just upgrade the main server and 2 APE's (we would shut down the other 24 VMs for stage 1). Once everything seems functional for the first 3 servers, we would startup the other 24 VMs and upgrade those. Would I still be able to use the My Orion Deployment update method? Or would I need to run the installer on each VM? Or something in between? The concern would be that, in the unlikely event the upgrade goes wrong, we would only have to restore 3 servers instead of 27.

Thanks.

Steve
