Upgrading Hardware and Solarwinds, Need Recommendations!

A) we are upgrading to new hardware in primary site and we want to have the latest version of Solarwind modules. Kindly provide your recommendation of the required and recommended OS for latest version . is MS Windows server 2012 r2 is enough ?

B) what is best practice migrate solarwinds server from one hardware to another?

C) Please give confirmation : If  Hardware at Primary (new hardware) and Secondary sites(present) are not same, we will be able to keep our application in sync using Solarwinds Failover engine ?

D) here any special module is required to have a recovery or secondary solarwinds server  ?

  • A: Yep.

B: Shut down services on poller(s), run database backup, fire up new database server, import database backup. For the new pollers (if you're going that route), you can use the scalability installer.

    C: I don't use the product so I can't comment on that.

D: If you mean their HA/failover capability, yeah, that's an additional license you'll need to buy.
