Upgrade from 12.1 to 12.5

I've now finally upgraded our servers to Windows 2016 and SQL 2014.

I want to upgrade our Solarwinds products, but since I've not upgraded for almost 2 years want some advice on whether jumping to 12.5 was doable and worked or if it was better to take an incremental step say to 12.3 and then to 12.5.

Any advice would be much appreciated?

The best piece of advice I can offer is to use the Upgrade Advisor . It will tell you exactly what you need to do. D

Thanks, I've already looked at the Upgrade Advisor and it says that I can go straight to 12.5 but in the past Solarwinds upgrades have been flakey and I wondered whether such a big jump was advisable from the community perspective and if upgrades have been improved.

Upgrades are very dependent on the environment, in my experience. Some of my upgrades have gone very smooth, others are epic fails. I will say the latest installer is pretty slick and makes life easy on us (mine was this time), but I've seen posts to the contrary.

Im pretty sure you need to be SQL 2016 at a minimum. But yes, the upgrade adviser should let you know where it will blow up. Make sure you have good backups if you dont have a good test environment.
