Unable to add Additional poller

Hello

I'm unable  to add poller to our orion system getting:  "An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was recieved from the other party." error.

I've already read and try:      SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Additional Poller is Out of Sync with the Time Server

SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Orion Website Error: An un...

Main server is running Windows server 2008R2, NPM 11.0, (wanna be) additional poller running Windows Server 2012, poller installation bundle 20140814. Both of them are members of the same domain, time is definitely synced to domain, time diff is within tenths of sec, if any. Checked TZ and DST, all correct.

folowing is appropriate part of CompatibilityPreInstaller.log:

Re: Unable to add Additional poller

Are you able to telnet to port 17777 of the Orion server from the (wannabe) additional server, and vice versa?

Re: Unable to add Additional poller

from wannabe to orion yes, opposite way no. I guess there's nothing servicing this port yet.

Re: Unable to add Additional poller

Is solaris your main Orion server name? Does cz\petr.pribyl.ad have full admin rights to the Orion console (not to the Orion server)? Have you tried a non-domain account (like the in-built admin account) that has full admin rights?

Re: Unable to add Additional poller

Yes.
Yes.

No, the instalation wizard asks for domain account and says invalid credential to (main server) local account. I'm able to RDPto main server with the same credental so I'm sure it's correct.

Re: Unable to add Additional poller

I am pretty sure it is not asking for the credentials to login to the Orion server, and instead asking for the credentials to login to the Orion web console. The error relates to the Solarwinds Information Service which is authenticating to the Orion application, not the Orion server.

Re: Unable to add Additional poller

My (petr.pribyl.ad) account is member of both Domain Admins and Administrators group @ orion.

Meanwhile I've tried to restart whole orion server and the additional poller wizard  works for me now.

Thank you for patience.

Re: Unable to add Additional poller

I have the exact same issue. A reboot of the primary server didn't change the result.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Re: Unable to add Additional poller

Disregard my previous post. Using the built-in admin account instead of a domain account with admin privileges did the trick.

Re: Unable to add Additional poller

Thanks Aarond! That save us too here. We are currently in the same situation as original owner of this post. Using the local admin of the webconsole worked. For some reason Windows account with admin rights to the Web-console would not work.
