Trouble adding a node

Hi Guys,

I am trying to add an Eltek Smartpack power Node to Solarwinds NPM, I have already added some successfully with no issues using SNMP V2. I have run into a stumbling block now though were I am getting the following error message

"Node does not respond with the supplied read/write community string"

The SNMP test also fails when i have the Read/Write Community String set as public even though i have logged into the box and confirmed it is set as public.

The SNMP test only passes when I leave the Read/Write Community String black however I get the error message "Node does not respond with the supplied read/write community string"

Really not sure what the issue here is? I have checked the config of the Eltek which is a basic set up and the exact same as nodes i have already added without issue. I have tried restarting all Orion services and resetting my Solarwinds VM

Any ideas people? Screenshot below

Sounds like security on the box not allowing get or get next, are you sure they are allowed? This would happen even with read\write

Your screenshot is showing success with a community string (read-only)
The information your are suggesting is a r/w community string. The screenshot is implying you did not set it up as a read-write string, but as a read only SNMP community.

can you run Wireshark on your Orion server and do an SNMP test again for your node on the Node details page?

Read/Write is not needed, and I suggest that you add the device with Read Only by itself and skip Read/Write. SNMP testing will fail if the SNMP string does not have SNMP Set access.

Is it a firewall?? in some cases you need to configure SNMP within two sections, check your box product documentation on how to configure SNMP.
I think once you had configure the box correctly, you can add it to NPM.

Hi folks, just back from leave thanks for the support here, I suspect as you say SNMP gets are being blocked by the devices. Its not a firewall as some devices are working and some are not. I am unable to change the SNMP settings on the box other than read/write community strings which do not make a difference.
I have raised a case with Eltek to see if i can check additional SNMp settings via CLI or something. Will let you know

designerfx mentioned that you've been talking about read/write community strings but your screenshot shows that you've placed "public" in the read-only community string location with success. Can you confirm that your system is properly set up with public as the read/write community string?
By default, many systems have the read-only community string set as "public" and the read/write string set as "private". Be sure to validate these as two separate strings.

P.S. -> If both strings are set as public, try only providing one string to SolarWinds. For instance, instead of populating both the read-only and read/write community at the node creation page, only populate one of these options.
