If I am polling similair or the same information from multiple sources does Solarwinds parse the data or just store each data set in a different DB? I am concerned about he size of a database and the fact only 20% is being utilized. I know some will be old data but I am concerned that its duplicate data...

The data gets stored in your Solarwinds DB but again depends on your retention settings plus the DB maintenance as well which runs daily.
Lot of indexing happens locally plus the settings defined by DB admins.
