Setting an Alert Trigger Condition on how long Parent node has been up
We have dependencies setup between our core switches and the IDF switches. This helps stem the amount of alerts when the core & IDF switches go down. However, when coming back up, we still get many alerts. The IDF switches come online much faster than the core. The core takes as long as 8 to 10 mins to start passing traffic; however, it is pingable and the status changes to UP. So, we get many alerts on the child switches.
One thought was to change the node down alert to include in the trigger condition that the parent must be up for longer than 10 mins.
Has anyone setup a node down alert to take into consideration the amount of time the parent node has been up? If so, how?
