Printer NIC shows down but device is UP

Having a problem with printers into Solarwinds. I have setup SNMP and was able to add the device, however the NIC is in a DOWN status. The printer is online and responds fine. Problem is Solarwinds sees the NIC as DOWN ... anyone have any ideas why that would happen?

NPM V 11.5

Printers are all Kyocera C7551

Click on the Interface and go into the Interface Details page. In the Interface Details Resource, what do the Oper and Admin Statuses show as?

How many interfaces are reported and are you sure that the down nic is not a secondary interface?

There is only 1 interface on the printer that shows as Down. When I go into the interface details it shows at Node is Up and int eth0 is down. Makes no sense at all.

I did also see something that is a little odd. The printer type is listed as Mita FS-3920 when the device is a Kyocera C7551 ... wonder if that has something to do with it.

Gavin,
My guess is that this could be possible that this device is not fully supported yet but to be sure if it is or not I would have to look in the SolarWinds MIB tree. I would say your right the incorrect naming of the device is a cause indicator of bad statistics. Does this printer need to be monitored?

The reason we want to monitor the printer is we were notified that there is a constant problem with scanning to the network from the device. We wanted to see if the network connection was stable. I figured we would just add it in temporarily to see if that was part of the issue or not. Usually we are not concerned about printers.

Can you tell me based on the node detail page what is the system OID for the device. The only thing is that it is referencing the wrong OID. My suggestion would be to open a ticket to have the device added to the SolarWinds MIB tree so that is identifies it correctly. That is a service you get with you contract with SWs.
