Orion database failed while running configuration wizard.

Hi,

I am trying to install Orion 2020 demo setup on my server. Installer run successfully. However, while running the configuration wizard, I am getting an error "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections".

I have attached screenshots for reference.

Refered this article : Configuration wizard problems but it didn't help though.

I have installed orion on my app server and I am connecting to a separate DB server while running configuration wizard with same IP range like (100.11 for app and 100.12 for DB).

Verified that SQL Server and SQL Server Browser services are running

Tried by switching off firewall too.

Both servers are in domain and same network.

Please help if you have any clue regarding this.

Normally I would say check connectivity between the application and database server but the Config Wizard shouldn't let you get that far without testing that (you have to input the SQL server and select the databases/accounts before your screenshots).
I have seen this before when the application server has overzealous security software installed. It sees the communication between the app server and SQL as an "attack" and blocks communication between the two servers. Not a 100% guarantee but something to check out.

A Few things to check when you see this error;
- Servername is correct and server is reachable (dns resolves)
- Make sure your instance name is correct
- Make sure the SQL Browser Service is Enabled and Running
- If FW or Security software is present then put sqlbrowser.exe and/or UDP port 1434 into an exception
If you still get a failure to connect, note the error as it should be different at this point.

Check on DB server if required ports are open or not so application server can communicate with Database.
