Nexus7k - showing just the management interface

Jump to solution

Hi there,

We have a pair of Nexus7k that are showing just the management interface. The following 2 devices are having the software image n7000-s2-dk9 with 7.3(3)D1(1) version.

Does anyone know how we can fix it so also the other interfaces will be listed in Solarwinds?

Thanks,

Alexa

You may wish to create a local user within the Nexus 7K (or reference a special limited-privilege user in AD / TACACS), and give your Solarwinds environment access to it via Ethernet interfaces instead of via the Management interface.

The Mgmt Int. is separated intentionally for security purposes, and there are tasks you should perform only from the Mgmt Int.

However, other low-security tasks can be performed from, or on, Ethernet interfaces.  Your Nexus configuration, and your Solarwinds setup, will allow you to monitor and discover all Ethernet interfaces on your Nexus hardware, provided you configure then Nexus appropriately.

Start with this guide--I think you'll get everything you need from it for configuring your Nexus gear to be monitored by your Solarwinds environment.

We have another pair of Nexus 7k, but running an older IOS version and it seems that for those ones we have all the interfaces listed in Solarwinds. Now we would like to do an upgrade also for the ones that are running an older version. 🙂
