Network Traffic Analysis database transaction log file size issue

I am running the latest NTA on 9.5 SP2 and for some reason my transaction log file size keeps incrementing everyday even though I configured NTA not to keep the data for more than 1 day. There are some strange shrinking events where the database size is more than the before shrinking job started. Here are some of the events.

6/30/2009 12:43 AM   Scheduled shrink performed. DB size before shrink 126887.1875MB, DB size after shrink 120917.75MB, released space 5969.4375MB.
6/28/2009 10:18 AM   Scheduled shrink performed. DB size before shrink 83569.3125MB, DB size after shrink 88878.625MB, released space -5309.3125MB.
6/28/2009 10:04 AM   NetFlow Database Maintenance : Deleted 6484808 expired endpoints in 15872.85 seconds.
6/27/2009 5:39 AM   Scheduled shrink performed. DB size before shrink 58083.375MB, DB size after shrink 58742.4375MB, released space -659.0625MB.
6/27/2009 5:31 AM   NetFlow Database Maintenance : Deleted 8801000 expired endpoints in 18110.25 seconds.

Here are my NTA settings.

Solarwinds:  this is a key reason why the NTA database needs to be separated fromt he main NPM database.  i woudl like to turn the NTA database to a simple backup, so transaction logs do not grow, but do hourly transaction backups of the NPM data

  • I am not an SQL expert and this might sound like a silly question but what do you mean by simple backup and how can we do hourly transaction backups.

You are right NTA database should be seperate from NPM database but there is no option :(
