Need to upgrade the Solarwinds NPM 12.1 to 12.3, SAM 6.4 to 6.6.1 and SRM 6.4 to 6.6 running on Windows 2012 R2 and Database MSSQL 2014

Hi All,

We are planning to upgrade the Solarwinds NPM 12.1 to 12.3, SAM 6.4 to 6.6.1 and SRM 6.4 to 6.6 running on Windows 2012 R2 and Database MSSQL 2014.

Since NPM, SAM and SRM latest versions are not compatible to run on Windows 2012 and MSSQL 2014, can anyone suggest me, how I can take it forward with step by step procedure. I have 9 additional pollers and please consider them while providing the step by step procedure.

Hello,
Latest versions of NPM, SAM and SRM is still compatible with latest updated Windows Server 2012 R2 and with Latest updated SQL 2014.

Thank you for your quick response and information.
NPM 12.3 can be installed on Windows 2012, but Solarwinds vendor support is stopped for NPM 12.3 running on Windows 2012 right?

No, SolarWinds have announced that support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows SQL Server 2012 will be deprecated as of this release. That means that 12.3 is the LAST version that will support these operating systems.

So if your upgrading at the moment to 12.3 you will be fine, but you would need to upgrade your OS & SQL before you could upgrade to 12.4 (When that is released). The main reason for the notice is that SolarWinds are giving people the chance to plan and start budgeting for replacement servers now. Especially if you are currently on 12.1 and stuck due to Windows 2008, you might consider jumping directly to Win 2016 to save yourself another upgrade in a years time (potentially).
