Monitoring network availaiblity

I have already seen and thought about this option but it won't suit what I'm looking for. Since the scheduled unmanage stops monitoring altogether, I still the device monitored. I don't care if the workstation is restarted or shutdown, just don't need it to affect overall network availability.

Create a custom property as node type,  Assign the appropriate nodes as servers, Network, Workstations.

Create a new report, Add custom table, Select the custom property and Availability...

I've already created custom node types so I can stop the alerts for the desktops. Creating a report based off of that, is a good idea, but I'm also looking for this to reflect in the graphs that are in the various views. Or if a custom view resource can be created that shows the network availability for specific node types would be even better.
