MIB Database Update Recudes Trap Volume

We recently updated the MIB database in our NPM v10.1.3 systems, and we are noticing a huge reduction in the number of SNMP traps that we are writing to the database. This is without changing our discard rules.

The largest change is between the MIB database the shipped with V10.1.3 (dated 5/16/11), and the most recent MIB database from January of 2012. The number of traps we are writing to the database is 10% of what it was with the earlier MIB database.

Is this by design in the newer MIB database?
