Looking for Alert Help - Interface Discards

Question

One of my WAN engineers has contacted me saying he is tired of get interface discard notifications.

He only wants to be notified if the discards are greater then 1% of the interface speed.

So to that end I have come up with what I think is the solution;

I have created an alert with the following trigger condition

There is an interface custom property of ServiceType that we use within our environment.

May question to this forum is; Will this do what I want?

Or am I totally out in left field.

Note - the notifications and other process we have established.

Hi,

Your SQL looks fine, though in testing I noticed it fails for interfaces with no speed set (zero times anything tends to mess things up).

SELECT FullName, InterfaceID,InDiscardsThisHour, OutDiscardsThisHour, InterfaceSpeed

FROM Interfaces

WHERE ( OutDiscardsThisHour > (InterfaceSpeed * 0.01) OR InDiscardsThisHour > (InterfaceSpeed * 0.01) )

AND InterfaceSpeed > 0
