License resets and moving NPM to another server

If I'm moving NPM from one server to another, do I need to do the license reset before starting? Will the old server need to be shut down before doing the request? Or can the old server stay running until the new server is ready to start running?

Surely- the license is perpetual, but if out of maintenance it's tied to the last version released while you were under maintenance. Here's a KB on how to use license manager:
