Install Advanced Alert Manager - not on Server

Jump to solution

In an attempt to provide a secure environment, we have some team members that need to be able to add/edit advanced alerts related to their area of expertise but should not be on the server.

  1. Is it possible to install the advanced alert manager on a user's desktop?
  2. Is it possible to grant access in such a way that they only have access to certain areas of Orion (ex, only APMs, only nodes, only SQL Server APM, etc)?

So, when looking at the Advanced Alerts in the web interface with NPM 10.1 - the parts that are listed as read-only would require access to the server?

Yes this is correct

Is there or will there be a way to limit the type of items that a user would be able to create/edit alerts upon?

Not currently, right now it is all or nothing.  There is no access control on each of the alert definitions.

For Advanced Alert Manager, no.  Our intent is to move this to the web in a future release.  With NPM 10.1 you can edit and delete some basic info on advanced alerts though, see here.
