How does agent find polling address?

Hello,

I installed a solarwinds agent on a windows system and I was expecting it to show up with it's IP address, but it's reporting as a completely different one in solarwinds. There are no other active interfaces on the system, so I'm not sure where solarwinds is getting this different polling address.

If you ping that windows machine from the Orion server via hostname what comes back? Do you recognize that IP?

Yes it pings back with the correct address I was expecting. When the agent was installed, the weird address it came into solarwinds was 169.254.x.x and after some more googling I saw that this is a Microsoft address when there is a DHCP error. I'm confused how this came up because the computer is set with a static IP. Not sure why that static IP never showed up in the node details?

I wonder if it is based on the network interface with the lowest index in the host OS?
