HSRP - Cisco

Hi ,

We have a requirement to monitor and alert on HSRP changes , however we would also like it to show the interface as well - is this possible ?, if so any help would be appreciated.

Scott.

  • You can alert on HSRP flips via traps or Syslog.

As for interface, if a secondary router takes over, all interfaces on the affected subnet are affected.

What do you want to report on interface? Are you talking about the physical interface or the layer 3 interface?

  • Scott,

We currently monitor our HSRP addresses and list them as GW_(site name), but then we monitor each router separately.  My question to you is, are you looking for a notification as to which router is the active router?  Then I would agree with Imcbuilder that you would need to setup an alert based on snmp traps and or via syslog events.
