We have been researching using Groups to link nodes together. For example, if a Velocloud SD-WAN device has 2 circuits we are currently monitoring each circuit individually which makes it hard to give a customer an accurate uptime of the device itself. We can tell them how much uptime each circuit has, but nothing ties both together into an overall availability. Loop1 suggested using Groups of nodes to resolve this, but during testing we found that Groups fall outside of the customer restrictions (limitation) and there is no way to resolve this. The only solution is to either not use Groups, or to greatly restrict what customers see when they login and make sure they are not able to view overall Event logs, etc. as it will show other customer Groups there.
