Hi Thwackers, I've recently moved to NPM 10.1.1 SP1 - and I've been messing with the Group options. In particular, Availability for Groups. For example: I created a group name called "Global Video Conferencing Network which basically contains 7 video conferencing end-points which all are, obviously, monitored by NPM. I ran the "Group Availability (with Members) - Last Month" report from the report writer and the results are don't seem for the "average"of"group"availability" Sample report: Date Group Name AVERAGE_of_Group_Availability Member Name Current Member Status 04-Feb-11 Global Video Conferencing Network 100 SVR210 Up SVR211 Up SVR212 Up SVR214 Down SVR215 Up SVR216 Up SVR217 Down 05-Feb-11 Global Video Conferencing Network 100 SVR210 Up SVR211 Up SVR212 Up SVR214 Down SVR215 Up SVR216 Up SVR217 Down 06-Feb-11 Global Video Conferencing Network 100 SVR210 Up SVR211 Up SVR212 Up SVR214 Down SVR215 Up SVR216 Up SVR217 Down All the other days in the month are the same - SVR214 & SVR217 are down. Notice the "Group Availability" still equals 100% for the group for that day. I would've thought that the availability as whole for the group would drop? Cheers, Pete

Hi mgibson, I ended up logging a support ticket with Solarwinds directly. After some debate, it appears that the Availability will only show 0% or 100%. If there is a node with 100% availability, and its the parent in the group then the overall availability for the group will be 100%. This goes for Mixed Mode as well because Mixed Mode will cancel the down node as it percieves it as a warning causing it to go 100% as well. Solarwinds Technical Support has escalated to clarify this - however the ticket is still open and waiting a response. When I have more of a definitive answer, I'll be sure to post it. -Pete

What do you have the rollup status for the group set to? Best, Mixed or Worst?

Thanks for that.
I changed one of the groups to "Show Worst Status" today - whats interesting is that after the change I'm getting blank graphs. It seems to have kept some of the historical data from a few days ago going backwards but nothing for today/yesterday so far. All I get is "No Data for Selected Time Period".
I changed to yesterday, today, last hour etc still the same. Anyway, I'll wait a few hours and see what it looks like.

make sure you have set the interval to show at something that will make sense...
in your case as you seem to only want to see a single day, I would set it to something like "Every 15 Minutes", if you have it set for example to once a day, it will show the No data for time period as you posted.

Yup, tried that. Note: the graph shows how 0% available for the group - so it actually shows a graph.
Perhaps the next question is how does the Group Availability show when 2 out of 7 nodes are down?
Should I expect it to show 71% availble for the group?
