Getting an error while clicking on Edit Node.

I had this issue this morning and SolarWinds recommended updating my .Net software. I had my windows admin look at the update from this link. .NET Framework May 2018 Preview of Quality Rollup | .NET Blog

Hi Guys, Thank you for the response. Yes, I got the issue actually there was some issue related to .Netframework of the old version which was installed on 4 Solarwinds servers out of 11. So, in order to resolve this Ill had to uninstall the same. now it is fixed.

so, am I right, that I only have to update all my Orion servers to 4.7.2? (I'm on the same version as amehlman: 4.7.02558)

We have updated all our servers to 4.7.2 and we get the error only on the nodes residing on the Server 2016 Poller. Either KB4338419 or KB4338424 on the primary server (2012r2) is likely causing the issue.

Solarwinds really needs to fix this or provide a list of approved windows updates.

I have the same problem. Checked the NET framework versions are they are the same on both servers - 4.7.03062. Any suggestions?

No, Support says this is not their problem, 4.7.2 should stop the error:

This is a known issue. Microsoft released an update to .NET. If the update is installed on any server then all Orion servers must have the same .NET version and updates or you will get the error you are experiencing. The new server likely has the update in question. The following KB details the issue. They then will all match and the error should stop.

After upgrading all nine servers to 4.7.2 support came back with this:

The issue is not with our software. The issue is with .NET. It affects all multi-server software platforms which are built on .NET framework. Microsoft changed something in .NET which now requires all servers to have not only the same version of .NET, but also the exact same .NET updates installed. It is currently unclear whether they intended this or if it is a bug, but it is not something we can fix. For the time being the only workaround is to make sure you are applying all the same .NET versions and updates to all Orion servers.

We do not have an approved updates list. The problem you are experiencing is not with any one update. You just need to make sure all the servers have the same updates. The following KB provides details the issue.

Comparing and matching Windows KB's between Server 2012r2 and Server 2016 is not quite straight forward.

     We've struggled with this for sometime (well 3 months anyway with a 4 APE solution) due to the lack of clear info and finger pointing going on.

Management tend not to like fumbling with something like this and the previous fixit worked well.

Now with your updates and doco links my fingers are crossed - our windows server guys advise they didn't update anything over the last week on this instance *sigh* but it just started happening again yesterday.

We resolved the issue by applying Windows updates and restarting the servers. Granted, in our case its 2 servers on the same OS - Windows Server 2016. Hope this helps.

We just started experiencing this problem.  I ran a check to see if .Net Framework 4.7 is installed.  All my servers have the same version and are up-to-date with the latest Microsoft patches.  I'm going to open a support case.
