False reports?

Anyone having Solarwinds reporting devices down and paging you only to get another page for the rest less than 1 min later. Than you checkout the devices and it has been up for 3+months or more???

I can't figure out why solarwinds sees one or two objects down when there is many many objects being monitored in the same location...It is a major Data Center and only the same two devices keep reporting down.

I'm assuming no new events are appearing in the web console or Events Viewer?

this would be interesting due to the fact that if there was no event then Orion would have nothing to Alert on.

If you are getting paged by Orion it comes from an alert that would also generate a event.

If you are still having this issue change the alert to only fire after the alert has been triggered for 3 polling cycles (you will insert that as a time) that way you wont get false positives due to network lag and otherwise wierd crap that happens.

Are you configuring this in the Advanced alerts ?

All I see there is block until and next poll

on the Trigger Condition Tab along the bottom is the place where you can define how long the alert has to be in triggered status before actually doing the events you defined.
