Is there anywhere I can find a bit more detail about how the built in QoE applications are defined?
We are using the one for Groupwise but it doesn't seem to be showing all of the data that we are expecting. Without knowing how the application is detecting Groupwise traffic, its difficult to know what its capturing.
Is it just using port numbers or something else?
Also, in GW world, we are missing NCP traffic which is on port 524
Short answer is- it's complicated. Here's a KB that addresses some of the detection logic: http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/5785/How+is+a+QoE+application+defined+for+quality+o...
We also use a heuristic analysis of traffic behavior beyond simple port / protocol detection.
Thanks Rob, that does make sense.
So really the only way I can be sure is to trace the traffic on the span port to see for ourselves?
As with all new functionality we are just trying to figure out the details
