Dell MD3000/MD1000

Question

Hi,

Does anyone have experience of monitoring Dell MD3000 and MD1000 arrays? I have tried speaking directly to Dell but the tech doesnt even know what an OID is, let alone how to poll one!

I had a physical disk failure on the unit a few months ago and we only found out today when someone noticed the orange warning light on the front.

Specifically I need to poll the array disk status.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Stuart,

Here are few suggestions:

1) Use the SNMP Traps or Email Alerts action available from the MD Storage Manager software agent.

2) Install a Net-SNMP agent on the server and use the Extend feature to run scripts querying the dell agent.

and scroll down to Extending Agent Functionality.

Once done this, create your UnDP(s) to poll the NetSNMPExtendMIB:

3) Use APM to run Windows Script monitors and return the results.
