DNS testing APM2.0

Jump to solution

Hi

I want to use APM2.0 to test some dns servers; however when i add it it fails the TCP test. I understand that the test qry for a.root-servers.net.

The problem i have is im running an isolated network; anyone got any idears other than adding the record to the DNS servers

I solved this problem a bit later; after having a poke around i found the 'User Experience Monitor'

So i created a template and added  the 'DNS User Experience Monitor'  to the template which i set up to do a look up on an address i expect to find (I used my solarwinds box ) and the address to the expected responce.

Problem solved

Is your application monitor simply setup to test TCP Port 53 or is it more than that?

BTW, in the future, you might get more responses regarding problems with APM if you post in
