I need to procure new servers for my primary poller and additional pollers and need to specify the correct CPUs to offer the best performance (bang for my buck). The servers will be running NPM (ALX), SAM(SLX), NTA (ALX, but will be about 40 - 50 sources) and WPM (20). What will provide the best performance for the pollers; higher clock speed with less cores or more cores, but then I need to sacrifice some cores?

Unfortunately you need more cores and higher clock to speed up polling
. But applications are running several threads for different jobs so processor with more cores definitely helps.
