Cisco Switch Stack Alerting

Hi,

We have multiple Cisco WS-C3850-48P switch stacks (bundles of 3 and 4 units), the pre-canned alerts do not work for us as we have other stand alone 3850's and the alerts pick these up too.

So I want to create a group and add only the genuine stacks to it , and then create an alert for any stack issues based on that, except I cant , if I create a group then I cannot add stack alerts to it , what am I doing wrong ?

Hi Scott, The release notes for NPM 12.1 state there is a fix included for Cisco Switch Stacks not displaying properly. May be worth investigating.

I don't know what version of NPM you're running, so forgive me if you already know that 12.x has built in alerts and views for switch stacks.

Hi Ken,
Yup we are on 12.x but they don't work for our 3850's, seems to be setup for 3750 which I think are quite different.

cobrien may be able to give some updates as to the status of switch stack monitoring/alerts as it is fairly new in Orion.
