Cisco AP alerting with N+1 controller configuration

Has anyone been able to get alerting to work on Cisco AP's where the controllers are in a N+1 configuration?

We have our controllers in this configuration primarily for upgrades. This allows me to upgrade a controller, then move AP's to that controller in order to upgrade. Once all AP's are on this controller, then I upgrade the primary and then move the AP's back to that controller.

The issue I am seeing with Orion is that once all AP's are moved back to the primary, Orion is still showing all of the AP's on the secondary controller in an unknown state. If I have the "AP is down" alert enabled, Orion will blast us with emails for those AP's that it shows as unknown on the secondary controller.

I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue and was able to resolve this.

Unfortunately, we could never get alerting to work with Cisco APs. I believe it all comes down to the "Node ID" in the Orion database.
Example:

A Wireless AP attached to the main controller has an Orion "Node ID" of, say, 36.
You move your AP over to your secondary controller whilst you do maintenance on the main controller.
The Wireless AP will now show as a 'new' device to Orion, and it will get a completely new "Node ID".
I believe alerts are based on Node ID, so when that changes, you're kinda screwed.
If an alert triggers on Node ID 36 to say "Wireless AP is down" but then the Wireless AP comes back online joined to the secondary controller, your alert never clears because there is no such Node ID 36 anymore... if that makes sense.

We had a post about this a while back but I dont think anything came of it.
