Cisco 3750 Stackwise MIB/Poller

Hi,

We have just purchased Orion and we have a number of Cisco 3750 switches that use the stack wise cables and only use one ip address for monitoring. Does anyone know how to configure ORION to monitor the individual switches that are using the same IP address?

Ive tried to apply:

cswSwitchrole and cswSwitchstate MIB's to the Universal Device Poller,

but im not sure what you do after you apply the MIB's to the device.

For availability we monitor the stack port status to determine the availability of each member. Quick and easy.

Do you know if there is anyway to monitor the stackports for usage? I've done some research and I can't find anything.

I recommend browsing the MIB on the stack agent.

Ive got about 100 3750s and have done nothing special to monitor the stacks, its included in the default mib.

Do you get traffic statistics? I don't know if Cisco publishes them but I was curious to see how busy some of our stacks were.

The 3750 stack acts like a chassis all the ports should be seen as such so it should be easy pull the stats. The stack ports I am not sure about they do not show up as interfaces that I know of you can pull some stats for them but just through the command line. But as fast as those ports are I do not think you have to worry about them, 16gb and 32gb for 3750Es.

The first one "cswSwitchrole" will only show:
cswSwitchRole.1001 master(1)
cswSwitchRole.2001 member(2)
cswSwitchRole.3001 member(2)
and "cswSwitchstate" will only show:
cswSwitchState.1001 ready(4)
cswSwitchState.2001 ready(4)
cswSwitchState.3001 ready(4)
I am not sure what you want to do with those. If you created a UDP, you can tell it to display the results on the node details page. But I dont think that you would be able to setup any type of alerts based on the info from the MIB, unless you figure out what info will be displayed when one is down. I think that the values are:
waiting(1), progressing(2), added(3), ready(4), sdmMismatch(5), verMismatch(6), featureMismatch(7), newMasterInit(8), provisioned(9), invalid(10)

Im moving over to Solarwinds from intermapper. They had a great probe that would detect if a switch dropped from the stack. I don't know or have time to figure out how to get this to work in Solarwinds.

and yet you have time to move over to another program?
This is easy, you just have to make sure your switches are on a newer IOS than 12.2.25 and it'll detect automatically.
We have this 12.2.25.SEB2 running on a lot of ours, this doesnt work, then we have 12.2.25.SEE3 and that does have it.
Any version i have here later than 12.2.25 seems to have it as well.
