Cannot add 2012 R2 server via WMI

If you RDP into your polling box and attempt to RDP or drill via UNC into the target server, are you successful?

Yes this works fine for RDP and UNC browsing from the NPM server.

WBEMTEST also succesfully connects to WMI on the problem server from the NPM server.....

That's an unusual issue! I've had problems before, but it always boiled down to permissions of some kind. With any luck, some of our fellow forum members might be able to contribute.

I assume this is a domain machine - or at least identical from a topology standpoint to other servers you're successfully monitoring.

Correct yes it's a domain machine very similar to other servers that work ok via WMI. The only thing i can think of, is that it has the same IP as a recently deleted NPM node, in case that is confusing NPM somehow?

That's a possibility. If you perform nslookup for the new node's name on the NPM server, does it report the correct IP? How about if you do an nslookup for the IP?

Looks like it was DNS related, deleting its old DNS record resolved the issue! Thanks!
