Can you add one node to NPM server in 3 seperate geographical region?

We are looking to create three regional (Chicago, London, Tokyo) NPM server instances which will have individual db's attached and then all 3 coming back towards Miami and culminating in an EOC db.  So from the remote db's can we add a same "core" network device into each individual regions' NPMs product instance and then change the hostname thru node details from 'Router' to 'Router_Chicago' manually?  Otherwise you would have three instances of the same router name eventhough it would have a different NodeID #.  Reason being, we are wanting to obtain latency numbers for a specific node from all three regions.

NOTE:  We will be having NTA on these 3 remote instances as well.  Would this product be able to assist in providing latency numbers between a remote router in Rome and the three regional locations?

Thanks,

David

  • Hi David,

If you want to monitor the latency between routers in geographical regions, there might be an easier way out.

Provided the core devices that you are having are Cisco devices, and is IPSLA ready.

The IPSLA module will leverage the IPSLA on the Cisco devices and is able to show the latency from one router to another.
