Automatically configure custom properties with agent installation?

We are currently rolling utilizing Ansible to add an agent to Solarwinds when we deploy a server (Via the install script), however I'd like the ability to define custom properties on agent addition. Is this possible? Something along the lines of specifying a config file with the field and their values or maybe performing an API call to set the custom property?

Has anyone done this before?

I haven't done this, but can't imagine why not. Your Ansible task could pull custom property values from YAML or by querying something else in your environment. After the install script has added the agent, you should be able to add a task that updates/sets the values of your custom properties using the same API. You'll just need to make sure the agent has registered in Orion before running the next script.

I was hoping it would already exist lol. Im going to look into the API to see if i can get it done.
I assume i have to do a poll to get the node ID, then another to post the custom property for that node ID.
The documentation isnt that great though
