Alerting when [aruba] Wireless APs go up and down

With the new 9.5 update, our Aruba APs are automatically being managed.  Thanks, Solarwinds! This was way, way, more than I would have ever even hoped for, so this was a special treat when we fired up the Wireless tab and saw that everything worked without having to touch it.

We would love to have a monitoring feature set up, so we could get an email if an AP goes down.  The way we were doing this prior to 9.5, we were running SNMP directly on the APs and polling them directly.  This was really clunky, we have quite a few APs and their IPs do change sometimes.  We'd love to use the existing 9.5 Wireless support to report and alert on wireless events.

Is this possible?
Thanks, Thwack!!

  • Just found something in advanced alerts, but it seems that Solarwinds is putting in the Controller name in for the AP name.  This is the case for all of the Aruba wireless thin APs I have set up (Weird!!).  It also over-alerted and sent 70 emails out in a second :)
