Is there a way I could use or setup AD authentication to log into my Orion website?
i've been told Orion does not work with AD.
however, the NPM admin guide, page 256, discusses using IIS NT Pass-through authentication. this sounds interesting, but i have not tried it yet. i use the straight and bland Manage Accounts in Orion website.
Pass-thru authentication works just fine. We've used it for years so that allows us to bypass having to log into the website each time.
The admin guide explains how to set this up.

Pass-thru works only for individual user account or the "everyone" account in the Domain.
It does not work with AD groups (a very useful function requested by many).
This is easily done.
Go to your IIS settings under computer management on your server running orion and then go to the properties of the Solarwinds Netperfmon website.
Under the directory security settings tab check the first box in the lower half of the Authentication Methods, Integrated Windows Authentication and that should do it.
This used to work prior to 8.5.1 but now I can not add any new users into the orion website. I used to just have to add domain\user and then submit now it is asking for a password which it never did this before when adding AD users to the Orion user list.
Anyone know of what changed and why this is not working?
Ok now I have this working when creating and account in Orion website account manager, when creating a user and you add the domain\username for the password you need to use "password" as the password so that it tells orion to use the windows AD account password. This is what support had me do to make this work when addind an account to Orion. This changed for 8.5.1 where this is needed.
