900 Nodes Cant Run Web Based Availability Reports

Does anyone out there get time outs when trying to run web based availability reports against several hundred nodes?

My Director is losing patience and it starting to look at other product demos and POCs.

The Report Writer reports seem to run but the web based, prettier reports always bomb.

  • Hi there,

What details are included in the report and how far back is it fetching information?

  • Vendor icon. Node name. Availability %.

    Q1 2017.

    Report writer runs instantly.

Web based availability report barfs bad.

    Need the formatting of new.

  • Unless you are creating a custom chart web report, it should pull the data out reasonable fast.

We're pulling metrics out from three times as many nodes and it takes about 10 ish seconds.

Is it a custom table based report?

Here's what you can try. Open up the report in good ol report writer, click on Report in the toolbar and select Show SQL...

Now copy paste the query into a new web report whose selection method is Advanced Database Query.

Make sure to select SQL as the query type. Continue building the report by adding columns and see if this works instead.

  • As a test, I set a report to only pull ten records and it spins and spins and spins for 30 minutes.

    Something is just desperately wrong.

I'm beginning to not doubt our directors doing POC of other cloud based monitoring tools and leaving SolarWinds. We are nearing the end of our patience with all of these nuances of SolarWinds.

  • Something is wrong indeed but not likely with the software. I think it would be best for you to ask your director to approve having a SolarWinds specialist assess the platform, servers, setup et al and implement changes to make it work as it should. If you can't invest in finding and fixing problems then you'll likely run into the same issues again, no matter what other products you pick.
