The Firmware Repository looks like a good idea to me.
What I haven't worked out: the admin guide says "Click Scan Firmware Repository to see the latest image files. By default, all files with the .bin extension are displayed".
What happens to the rest? Are they excluded from this feature?
I've scanned my repository a few times, but only .bin-files are shown
Where can I configure "valid" extensions?
I'd be glad if somebody could enlighten me.

OK, got one step further.
There's the Advanced Configuration, which can be found under:
http://<server>/Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspx
Unfortunately it does not say, how more than one expression can be used. It only says "The filter string NCM uses to determine what files to monitor in the firmware repository"
I've experimented with blank, colon, semi-colon, pipe, asterisk only - but none seems to work.
This is a real pity, because it works fine, if I delete the *.bin and replace it with *.cc for example. But this is still not what I want. I have at least three extensions I'd like to use in this context.

That worked for me 
but took over an hour after changing, and I only had to restart some NCM services 
I'm unsure of why it took longer that expected since I know the bandwidth of the site where the devices exist.

Environment: Platform version 2019.2.
The advanced configuration has been updated to included a new option named 'FirmwareRepositoryFileExtensions' where you can specify a semicolon seaerated list of file extension to monitor. Any changes require a restart of the Orion Module Engine service.
The FirmwareRepositorySearchPattern option has been removed.
