Is it possible to add a node to NCM that is already present in NPM without removing and re-adding the node thereby losing historical data?

Sometimes our network management team adds a node to NPM without adding it to NCM so it's config will not be backed up as a result. Is there an easier way to add a node to NCM that is already being monitored by NPM other than removing and re-adding and ticking the "add to NCM" box? I'm gonna lose historical data removing and re-adding.
