Comparison Criteria Changed - Startup vs. Running Report not updated

Jump to solution

Hi Community,

we updated in NCM the config comparison criteria in order to compare the startup configs and the running configs, after adding a new criteria this did not reflect in the report that is shown as pie-chart on the NCM start page. Nodes were still marked with "conflict". When we compared the configs in the Node Details web page we did not see any highlited lines.

I noticed that we have to pull a new config of the device in order to update the Report.

However I did not find any clue in the documentation where this is clearly stated.

Can anyone confirm this? Maybe there is another way to update this Report.

We only want to pull a config when it is changed on the device.

Thanks,

Holger

When you create a regex in the comparison criteria, it affects both Start vs Run and real time change detection.  So if it invalidates the change, yes, you effectively have broken real time change detection.

There are many threads regarding this, do not expand on the Solarwinds defaults as the REGEX is not documented and as you found out, you will break real time change detection messing with it.

To specify a bit more. does this also apply to a whole new comparison criteria. I did not alter the existing criterias I added a new one and activated it.

Will this also break real time change detection?

Thanks for your comment.
