kiwi vs orion syslog

You should use one or the other.The reason they both wont run is that the first instance reserves port 514. The second one also uses 514 by it has been reserved. The Kiwi docs are here and the Orion NPM syslog docs are here

Is the kiwi a fuller featured product?  can i disable the orion syslog so i can run kiwi on the same box?

Most customers who use both will use Kiwi Syslog for the distributed Syslog use-case.   These customers have setup multiple Kiwi Syslog Server distributed throughout their environment and forward only the pertinent Syslog messages to the Orion Syslog Server.   

If you disable the Orion Syslog server, you will not be able to see Syslog in the Orion website and will not be able to access Orion node variables and custom properties in your Syslog alerts.

If you want to run both on the same server, you can easily change the Kiwi Syslog Server to listen on a different port: http://www.kiwisyslog.com/help/syslog/setup_udp_input.htm
