This requirement comes from a need to integrate Cattools with Kiwi Syslog server, but it would have many other uses.
At present you can only export the device details to a text file manually from the console. What I need is to create a scheduled activity to do this and for the output columns to be customisable. The reason is I need to create a hosts file with hostname (tab) ip address but as I say it would be useful as an inventory report or manual backup, export to other systems etc.
Existing reports nearly do this, the closest is the SNMP device report but the problem with that is even if you don't select any of the SNMP-gathered data, it still tries to contact every device via SNMP and fails for those which don't respond. So I guess a hacked copy of that report without the SNMP bit would do, but thinking about more general benefit, being able to export any or all of the device attributes regularly could be more useful.
