It would be a very good idea for the developers to create true Additional Polling Engines (aka APE) for IPAM. I know there is already a file named SolarWinds-Orion-IPAM-v4.0-Poller.exe in the SolarWinds Customer Portal. However, that file is not a true APE for IPAM, since IPAM is currently installed ONLY on the core SW server. Anyway, the APE for IPAM would be especially helpful for SW customers with multiple APE servers. The IPAM APE’s in addition to our core SW server, so having three APE’s for IPAM would help reduce the polling load on the core server. This, as you would agree, would make both NPM and IPAM much faster.

So, please, forward a request to the SW developers for an APE for the IPAM application. Thanks!!!

For an enterprise installation with many other modules the ability to spread the work is necessary. Our core system is a 32 CPU 32Gb server that works hard to keep up. ALL modules need to be able to use ALL Orion resources.

I am sooooo with in 10,000,000% in agreement w/you!!! I've been told several times (by SW technicians) say that IPAM does not really need polling engines. I am not so sure about that, since we're taking SNMP scans as well as DHCP scans...
But even so, my answer is... why not? I'd rather have IPAM (all other SW modules) utilizing the APE's...
PS: I know that there's no such a thing as 10,000,000%... Just making a point of how much I am in agreement...
