Additional Poller Support

It would be a very good idea for the developers to create true Additional Polling Engines (aka APE) for IPAM. I know there is already a file named SolarWinds-Orion-IPAM-v4.0-Poller.exe in the SolarWinds Customer Portal. However, that file is not a true APE for IPAM, since IPAM is currently installed ONLY on the core SW server. Anyway, the APE for IPAM would be especially helpful for SW customers with multiple APE servers. The IPAM APE’s in addition to our core SW server, so having three APE’s for IPAM would help reduce the polling load on the core server. This, as you would agree, would make both NPM and IPAM much faster.

So, please, forward a request to the SW developers for an APE for the IPAM application. Thanks!!!

Hi Bahlkris‌,
What would be the main use case for the IPAM additional poller? There are more reasons and performance of IP polling is typically not the crucial one.

id love to just be able to break up the workload amongst my polling engines, that would be my primary use case. I have, what I think is, a lot of VLAN and it seems like that IPAM is never not scanning a subnet.

I concur!! Can you please add this feature to your next update for IPAM! It would be beneficial to everyone as you can see in this thread.

cvachovecj‌ our use case for this is that we have additional pollers in DMZ's where our main poller isn't able to poll which means we are also unable to scan the IP ranges in those zones.

Our use case would be where have a backup network that is non-routeable across remote locations from the core server. using the existing additional pollers at the remote locations allows us to tie the backup nic to the additional pollers as we do with the core poller for IPAM.
