Subnet scans hanging

I've read quite a few old posts (2010) on subnet scans hanging.

I've just installed IPAM and have noticed that some of our subnet scans hang. The latest up to 900 hours before I cancelled them. Nothing is showing up in IPAM events or alerts.

We have a large number of scans in queue and they are set to repeat on a short timeframe (some as low as 5 hours) My questions are

- does this affect scan performance? Should we maintain a smaller queue with longer intervals between the scans?

- Is there now in 2012 a definitive answer on hanging subnet scans?- Are there specific logs I should check for error messages? Where are they stored?
