Performance Metrics for SQL Server 2014

Level 17

I took some time this week to update my list of not-so-common metrics that I find useful when monitoring for performance. With SQL Server 2014 having been released recently, it was as good a time as any to make the updates. You can see details about the metrics and my thoughts behind each one here:

In the post there is a link to download the full script. I've also embedded the script at the bottom of the post, for those of us too lazy to click on links these days.

The purpose of these metrics is that they help me gain insight into area of SQL Server performance that you simply don't see with standard tools or performance counters.

Let me know if you find the metrics useful, or if there are other metrics you would like to see me include.

This looks great and I shared it with DB team.  I think I have seen some of these monitors in SolarWinds SAM.
