can I modify the linux helper scripts

I have a requirement to log into some HP/UX boxes via Telnet to run some perl commands, can I modify the LinuxScriptHelper to log into a menu before it starts to run an application monitor component?  Here is a test using the default SSH connection method, I'd rather use SSH but HAVE to use Telnet, please don't get me started on that

My debug log on trying a basic connection

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Having what appears to be a similar issue myself.

I don't think it is possible. Is not monitoring via Linux agent option?

It doesn't appear to be possible right now. We have a script that polls statistics we need and there isn't another way for us that we know of to get this information.

Your polling script can stay intact. I was referring to change of way how Orion establishes connection to target node.

  • In agentless mode it needs to (1) open SSH connection, (2) do the authentication and then it expects to (3) get prompt. After it recognises prompt, it (4) creates script and proceeds with its execution etc. In your case, this flow gets broken between (2) and (3) where "menu" takes its place and blocks expected prompt.
  • In agent mode, connection between Orion and target machine is established permanently (it is responsibility of agent) so no process of logging in is needed and execution of polling job can start directly at (4).

I misunderstood what you meant. Thank you for the extra information. Currently the Preferred Polling Method is Agent and we have Debugging turned on for when it happens next. It has been a combination of issues.
