Please note: this document was brought over from the old DameWare Forums and pertains to version 7.x of DameWare NT Utilities & Mini Remote Control. Similar documents for versions 8 and 9 can be found on thwack as well.

NT Utilities:

Mini Remote Control:

  • Protocol Revision.Users will be required to update any older MRC Client Agent Service on the remote machine to this current version. Selecting No will disconnect the connection.
  • **Important note: Once you upgrade to version 7.x of the MRC Client Agent Service, you cannot downgrade back to any older version "on the fly". You will either have to manually remove this newer version, or provided the necessary ports are open between the local and remote machines, you may be able to select File / Remove Service from the MRC main menu to remove this newer version.

NT Utilities

  • Host name population errors when MRC called via DNTU or via the command line. Fixed.
  • RDP Settings would not open via DNTU \ Settings \ RDP Tab. Fixed.

 
Mini Remote Control

  • No Protocol revision. Users will not be required to update the MRC Client Agent Service on the remote machine, provided it's already running v7.0.
  • Added new DWRCS.REG file functionality, so users could distribute initial settings to remote machines during MRC Client Agent installation.
  • Users could possibly receive "Bad_Data" error and MRC connection would fail, due to missing file in MSI Builder package. Fixed.
  • Unable to expand the Saved Host List tree within "Default Host Properties / Update Existing Entries" dialog after initial Host list database conversion. Fixed.

MSI Builder:

  • MSI Packages created via MSI Builder sometimes would not reflect custom settings after being installed (including Proprietary Challenge information). Fixed.
  • MSI Packages created via MSI BUilder always included the FIPS modules, even when not selected. Fixed.

  • TCP Utilities View. Ping & Trace Route functions did not work on Windows 7. Fixed.

 
Mini Remote Control

  • No Protocol revision. Users will not be required to update the MRC Client Agent Service on the remote machine, provided it's already running v7.0 or later. However, we strongly recommend you update the MRC Client Agent Service on the remote machine to the current version.
  • New Host List entries sometimes would not save to the Saved Host List. Fixed.
  • Group Lookups could fail under certain conditions. Fixed**
  • Log Reporting would not create DWRCS.CSV log file. Fixed**
  • "Use email authentication" setting could fail under certain conditions. Fixed**

MSI Builder:

  • Various MSI Builder errors. Fixed.
  • Temporarily removed 9x package build option in MSI Builder, and provided a default DWRCS9x.msi package on the Client Agent downloads page. This DWRCS9x.MSI package will install using all default settings, including Proprietary Challenge/Response authentication enabled with UserID: "admin" and Password: "1234" (without quotes). Please note this is only to allow you to establish an initial connection to this remote 9x machine. The Proprietary Challenge/Response information should be changed following your initial connection.

  • DNTU Batch MRC Client Agent Install could sometimes copy the wrong version of the Client Agent files (x86, x64) to the remote machine. Fixed.

 
Mini Remote Control

  • No Protocol revision. Users will not be required to update the MRC Client Agent Service on the remote machine, provided it's already running v7.0 or later. However, we strongly recommend you update the MRC Client Agent Service on the remote machine to the current version.
  • Added checkbox to prevent overwriting of existing Alias & Comments fields in the Remote Connect dialog.
  • File / Install Service feature could sometimes copy the wrong version of the Client Agent Files (x86, x64) to the remote machine. Fixed
  • MRC Saved Host list entry was not always saved when invoked via DNTU or the Command Line. Fixed.

  • Added option to disable AutoSave, to prevent "New Host" dialog from automatically appearing when you start typing a new HostName or IP-Address. Setting is located on the Remote Connect dialog's Edit menu.
  • MRC Toolbar and Menu bar can now be combined on a single line.
  • Remote Clipboard sometimes would not work. Fixed.
  • Potential Slow Connection scenario on rare occasions. Fixed.
  • Intermittent crash in Mini Remote Client Agent User Interface (DWRCST.exe). Fixed.

  • Connect via Invitation dialog, Browse (Open Invitation) would crash on 32-bit O/S. Fixed.
  • SFT Shell Registration issues. Fixed.

  • Fixed win9x package issues.
  • Created new MSI templates for both x64 and x86 packages.
  • Created new MSI templates for installation of the Proxy Service.
  • Added code to reduce the size of the output MSI package, when no driver installers selected.
  • Added functionality to remove Registry settings and application files on uninstall.
  • Added button to open the output folder after build is complete.
  • Added functionality to disable driver installer options when target is win9x.
  • Added functionality to name the output MSI the same name as the profile.
  • Added functionality to remember the location of the dialog and the selected tab.

  • Screen occasionally would not update after logon on Windows 7. Fixed.
  • In some rare cases, MRC.DBF would not convert properly and MRCCv2.db would be blank. Fixed.

  • Permission dialog may not be displayed for remote user and session immediately disconnected for certain O/S implementations. Fixed.
